Welcome to Los Alamitos Mighty Mite Team Page
The LAPW Mighty Mite Division consists of 7-9 year old players with a weight range of 45-90 lbs (ages 7 & 8) and 45-70 lbs (9 year olds). The Mighty Mite division is very similar to the Jr. Mighty Mite division with the only difference being an older/lighter bracket (9 year old players). This is usually a division of 1st and 2nd year players, with a bit more tackle football experience then Jr. Mighty Mite players. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship along with basic blocking and tackling skills. The Mighty Mite Division is an instructional division with some unique rules that only apply to Mighty Mite. For example:
- They play on an 80 yard field.
- One Coach from each team stays on the field
- 10-games regular season (including Mighty Mite Bowl)
- Platton system (all players must play offense and defense)
- 9-12 minimum total plays for each player
Jr. Mighty Mite and Mighty Mite teams are generally divided by age, weight and experience/skill level. The preference is that bigger or more experienced players move up to Mighty Mite with younger, small or inexperienced players staying down with Jr. Mighty Mite.
The ability to have teams at both levels will also be determined by the amount of players signed up for each given year.
2010 Head Coach: Daren De Leon
