The LAPW Jr. Mighty Mite Division consists of 7 and 8 year old players with a weight range of 45-90 lbs.  The age is the participant's age on July 31 of this calendar year.  Weight is as of the OEC certification date (between August 15th and the 25th).  This is the first division of football that involves full football gear and full-contact tackle football.  Players at this level begin to learn the "basics" of tackle football.  Emphasis is placed on teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship along with basic blocking and tackling skills.  The Jr. Mighty Mite Division is an instructional division with some unique rules that only apply to Jr. Mighty Mite & Mighty Mite.  For example:

• They play on an 80 yard field.
• One Coach from each team stays on the field
• 10-games regular season (including Jr Mitey Mite Bowl)
• No older/lighter division
• Platton system (all players must play offense and defense)
• 9-12 minimum total plays for each player

Jr. Mighty Mite and Mighty Mite teams are generally divided by age, weight and experience/skill level.  The preference is that bigger or more experienced players move up to Mighty Mite with younger, small or inexperienced players staying down with Jr. Mighty Mite.

The ability to have teams at both levels will also be determined by the amount of players signed up for each given year.
